Solar & Agrivoltaic Farming
By incorporating an agrivoltaic farm onto the grounds beneath our already planned solar panel installation, we can simultaneously accomplish two of our goals to be pioneers in sustainable energy and farming space for communities in need.
Main Benefits
-
We will utilize our space to the fullest capacity. While panels collect sun, various types of produce can grow underneath.
By combining the two concepts into one space, we’re able to efficiently able to tackle the problem of creating more sustainable energy for the community and those that pass through as well as providing a source of healthy food for the community.
-
While Agrivolatic Farming has been developed in many countries, it’s still a relatively new technology in the United States. There have been ground-breaking sustainability programs at the University of Arizona and Jack’s Solar Garden in Colorado, that have studied the benefits of Agrivoltaics and best practices in their region.
We aim to pioneer the technology in the Black Belt region, where the sun is plentiful, and farming is a major part of the economy and help to stimulate and invigorate an already existing resource for the larger area.
-
By utilizing the power of the sun and storing the energy in solar batteries, we’ll be able to store and host an incredible amount of clean energy that can be used to power the whole campus, as well as be used by cars or trucks passing through the region on the highway.
